Description of the school

The aim of this school was to provide an overview of the basic and more advanced analysis techniques for space plasma data, in particular wavefield measurements from satellites. It was addressed to space plasma physicists (researchers and students) who work on space plasma data.

The programme consisted of introductory and advanced courses on the following themes:

• Spectral analysis : Fourier techniques, correlation techniques, time-frequency analysis, ...
• Wave analysis : wave identification, wave properties, dispersion relations, ...
• Multipoint analysis techniques for CLUSTER-II
• Statistical analysis of turbulence : statistical techniques, higher order statistics, ..
• Nonlinear interactions : higher order spectra, nonlinear transfer functions, ...
• Applied topics : data preprocessing, denoising, hypothesis testing, long-range correlations and self-similarity, ...
• Special topics (on a more introductory level) : artificial intelligence for feature detection, inverse problems, handling large amounts of data.
